How's That Resume?

When was the last time you updated your resume? A month, year? Do you even remember? The truth is that many of us do not have a routine job, therefore, we are constantly learning new skills voluntarily or not, but we are. These are skills we can take and use anywhere we go. So why aren't we updating our resume? Oh I know, because you're not currently looking. That's fine. Have you heard of layoffs? You don't always get a heads up. And you know what happens when you are left without a job all of a sudden? You can't focus. Why? First, you're trying to understand what just happened, and next you are trying to figure out if you have enough money to pay your next months bills. So updating your resume should be done often. You should make it a habit to update your resume everytime you learn something new, achieve a goal, receive recognition/awards. That document must be treated as a live document and ready to be used at any moment. So, once again, "When was the last time you updated your resume"? - Are you happy with the format? - Does your Summary need tweaking? - Are your latest accomplishments listed? - Have you included new skills learned? - Is your work history current? - Does your resume showcase you as a professional?
